Cellist Vicky Wang is the Artistic Director and co-founder of C’est Bon Chamber Music Academy, dedicated to inspire love of music in young musicians through chamber music. She is on the faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is an assistant professor of cello at the University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music, where she also serves as the cellist of its ensemble-in-residence, Trio 180. The trio performs a wide range of music from the Classical era to the present and is an active advocate of new music. In 2022, Trio 180 celebrated its 20th anniversary with commissioned works by Dorothy Chang, Cindy Cox, Andrew Conklin, Richard Einhorn, and Reinaldo Moya.
Prior to relocating to California, Ms. Wang served on the faculty of Mannes College of Music and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College in New York City. Her recent performances, lectures, and masterclasses include appearances at the Chamber Music America Conference (NY), Pacific Music Institute (Hawaii), MTAC convention (CA), MTNA-CAPMT masterclasses, Shkolnikova Academy (France), Sundays at 3 (Columbia, MD), Music for a Great Space (Greenboro, NC), and Chamber Music Unbound Music Festival (Mammoth Lakes, CA).
Ms. Wang's teachers include Eleonore Schoenfeld, Zara Nelsova, Darrett Adkins, Joel Krosnick, Alan Stepansky, and Marcy Rosen. She has participated in music festivals such as the New York String Seminar, Pacific Music Festival (Japan), Verbier Music Festival (Switzerland), Spoleto Music Festival (Italy), and Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara). Ms. Wang received her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School and her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the City University of New York.
